|Company Type:||Independent Repair Service|
I’m ready to throw in the towel if I can’t find a competent, honest, detail oriented tech before the end of this year.
I purchased a 4+ bay shop in 2015 and instantly built a large clientele by reputation including a couple of fleets. Unfortunately I have had to run after each vehicles service is completed to inspect, test clean or pull the car back in to have the vehicle in a condition that is acceptable to bill and ship.
We diagnose and repair a wide variety of vehicles that keeps things interesting to say the least. My apprentice and I have been on our own for two years due to the horror of going through 6 licensed mechanics that were complete nightmares including one that was teaching at the trade college and would release customers vehicles with brake fluid leaking, drop out brake pedals, the list goes on. Alcoholism, drug induced walking comas, miserable attitudes, false visions of self grandeur, need not apply. I stopped hiring and started building my own team from 1st year apprentice, there was 2 apprentices but the no show ratio was too much so I am back to 1 apprentice and myself.
I offer anything a competent tech could ask for in exchange for peace of mind. If you are a mechanic that is interested in helping build a shop that you would be proud to own then give me a call. I am definitely not interested in a wanderer, this position requires a strong commitment in quality and length of employment. As owner I will give back and work with the needs of my staff including reviewing weekly/bi weekly/monthly profit and loss statements to make sure profits are equitably distributed to the folks that make it happen. Get to know what shop ownership really is.
In 5 years from now I’m out and would love to have a team that I could hand the reins too enjoy owning their own shop they helped build. My apprentice wants that as bad as I do and would love to be part of that.
If you always wanted to own your own shop, succession of ownership is on the table.
My apprentice starts school again mid October. It would be great to have you in by then for certain.
Must have 100% attendance record. You can't imagine the hardship of the shop and customers when appointments are booked based on employees being at work but don't show up.
We like our vacations, 2 weeks shut down 2nd and 3rd week of August also again Late January and first week of February. Ideally the shop would remain open if those times do not work for our staff however from what I have seen so far this is not possible in my absence, yet! Maybe one day. In the meantime scheduled time off is always welcome.
This is an old shop established in the 1950's on the corner of a busy growing community. Renos are under way to bring the appearances up to todays standards however are very slow going being that I as owner, tech, trainer and every other hat is worn by me alone except for our exceptional bookkeeper who provides weekly reports.
