Auto Mechanic needed for used car dealership that has been in business since 1980. We are looking for a motivated person to work long term with our crew in SE Portland. Applicant must have and continue to posses a clean and valid drivers license, work Monday through Friday, show up to work on time, have a good attitude with a willingness to work with others in our shop, have (at least) basic automotive repair tools and skills. Applicant must be willing to learn and be able to do a complete used car safety checkout on all makes of vehicles. Applicant must be able to change oil and other fluids, check frame and suspension components, check all vehicle systems for proper function and be able to do basic troubleshooting and repairs on brakes, suspension, emission/engine controls, and recognize problems on test drives. Ability to perform engine repairs such as head gaskets, engine/trans R&R etc is a plus. Applicant must be able to work in a busy shop environment. We offer medical and paid vacation. We pay hourly, not flat rate. Compensation will be based on applicant’s experience and knowledge.
