Lind Auto Service opened in 1956 by my dad, a WWII Navy pilot and father of 4 boys and a girl. He survived the first year doing car waxing for a local Cadillac dealership for $25/car and pumping Mobil gas. The next year he hired a former co-worker and stayed at that location for 13 years. One of my brothers and I started helping out at the Mobil when we were 13 and 14 years old, respectively, pumping gas and cleaning shop. In 1969, my Dad moved the business 1 block to a Texaco gas station, where he operated until his death in 1985. I started full time in 1974, after a couple years in college. 36 years later I tell people I plan to work here for another 14 years when my daughter turns 18, and make it an even 50 years in the business. :)
