I am interested in finding a position that would provide the opportunity to exercise my experience and abilities, both technical and managerial, while still allowing me quality time to be with my family.
I am currently the Shop Foreman at my place of work, and am responsible for managing the work flow through the shop and maintaining quality auto maintenance and repair. I take pride in the success of the business and strive to improve it during the leaner times.
I enjoy both aspects of my job, the front counter and the shop. I'm comfortable talking with people as they bring their cars in for service and am happy to answer any questions they may have. I'm also conversant in the aspects of explaining needed or recommended services and asking for the sale, and properly writing up the invoice so that any and all things are properly documented in an easy to understand format.
In the shop I enjoy the satisfaction of having a car towed in and then driving it out or fixing the problem the other shop couldn't. I'm a good problem solver and have found that thinking about a problem logically and critically is the fastest way to resolving it rather than just replacing parts.
Engine performance, emissions, and electrical problems are my strongest suits, although I'm quite proficient at brakes, suspension, drivetrain, HVAC, and routine maintenance.
I am an ASE Master Auto Technician, Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, Undercar Specialist, and Service Consultant. I was also a Washington State Authorized Emissions Specialist for 20+ years.
I began in the automotive industry as a part-timer, working evenings and weekends as I worked toward my college degree. I found that this industry suited me well and the work is both challenging and satisfying.
