The International Automotive Technicians Network (commonly known as iATN) is an internet-based information service for the automotive industry. Its most popular features are the Auto Pro Community (iATN) service and the related Knowledge Base, which feature peer-to-peer vehicle repair help for industry professionals, and discussion forums focused on technical, managerial and other industry topics. iATN currently has over 85,000 members from over 166 countries.
In 2015, iATN released two new services: an employment service called Auto Pro Careers (iATN), and a user-editable product and service guide called Auto Pro Reviews (iATN).
In January 2016, iATN released a mobile app for iOS the app store. In February 2017, the Android version of the mobile app was released.
iATN was founded in 1995 by Brent Black as an email-only service called AutoTechNet, which was focused exclusively on peer-to-peer help with vehicle repair diagnosis. Soon after it's founding, the company transitioned from an email-only service to a web-based service, offering it's first real community features with the introduction of discussion forums on June 13, 1996. The company's name was officially changed in 1996, and it was incorporated in California in 1998.
In 2006, the company was purchased by Service Repair Solutions, Inc., the parent company of Identifix. In 2015, the purchase of Service Repair Solutions was completed by Solera, after an initial one-year joint venture with private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe. On September 13, 2015 it was announced that Solera had entered into an agreement to be acquired by U.S.-based private equity firm Vista Equity Partners.
