The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) was founded in 1972 as an independent, non-profit organization. Mission: To improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive professionals. The ASE program offers more than forty exams across specialty areas such as: Automobile/Light Truck Collision Repair Medium/Heavy Truck Truck Equipment School & Transit Bus Auto and Truck Parts ASE also features the online EPA Section 609 Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling program.
Test questions focus on real-world diagnostic and repair problems, not theory. Upon passing at least one exam and accruing the relevant work experience, you earn ASE certification. To remain certified, you must successfully retest every five years.
